The Power of Decision Making
“When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision.” Paul Coelho, The Alchemist.
“Every decision you make – every decision – is not a decision about what to DO. It’s a decision about Who You ARE. It is the purpose of your soul to announce and to declare, to be and to express, to experience and to fulfill Who You Really Are.” Neale Donald Walsch
It has been stated that we make on average, about 35,000 decisions in a day. On the surface that seems like a lot of decision making but obviously it stands to reason when we think about all the choices we make from the smallest to the largest. Of course this number may vary depending on your line of work, chosen professions, life’s calling, etc. We decide whether or not to get out bed, how to pursue our endeavors, who to spend our lives with, what to eat, where to eat….and on and on.
If you’re like me you’ve probably been taught that decisions are critical, that every significant and crucial decision you make can have everlasting effects on your life from that point forward. While it is certainly true that some decisions we make do have consequences that can change the course of our lives, how we choose to view these consequences is up to us. But we should first understand that the decisions we make are not necessarily life sentences. We may view them as having a negative or a positive impact. But the thing that I’ve learned is that it is less important about the decision we make and more important that we make a decision. Just DECIDE! What happens when we consciously decide on something? When we make a decision and then line up with that decision, we summon the powers of the universe to assist us in bringing that choice into fruition. We garner forces that would otherwise lie dormant and we allow ourselves to become a conduit for the God Force to express power. WE ALLOW GOD TO DEMONSTRATE POWER THROUGH US! This would otherwise not happen were it not for our intentional and conscious decision making. This is also why a little turmoil is good for us, because often we won’t make a tough decision until we’re in a tough situation. Conflict and turmoil provide focus for our desires and intentions. In the middle of these challenges, we make a decision and things move very quickly to affirm our decision. Why/How? It is the Life Force that we have suddenly called forth.
The universe is always conspiring to bring about our desires when we first of all, know what we want, and secondly make the decision to be in alignment with that choice. This is why it is so important to simply CHOOSE. Make a choice. And then line up with that choice. Don’t’ decide and then spend energy living in regret and second guessing yourself. This only diminishes the power you have just ushered into your being. Even if you must change your mind on a decision already made, it still better serves you than sitting around stewing and regretting over a decision you made that you now think was the wrong decision. Instead of trying to always make the “right” decision, try making a decision and then make it right. The power of creation can not EVER be activated within an indecisive mind. Focus your mind to bring yourself out of ‘mental limbo.’ The worse that could happen is that the consequence causes expansion/growth and new desire. Of course this may be a little oversimplified in that, obviously, some decisions are vastly more important than others. But the point is the more we get into the habit of intentional and deliberate decision making, the easier it becomes in making “harder” choices. This is part of becoming Deliberate Creators and creating our own realities. God has endowed all of us with the freedom to choose, the freedom to make our own choices in life. Exercise it! And watch the power you are able to harness.
