The-4-Advantages-that-Yoga-Can-Bring-to-Change-Your-Life

Did you know? Aside from its physical benefits, yoga can bring numerous of other advantages that can change your life as well. As trusted Life Coaches in Memphis, TN, Align To Enlighten would like to share these advantages of yoga that you may not have known about:

  • A practice in kindness. By engaging in yoga, you get a practice in kindness – you have to be kind with yourself and be gentle with your body. Know your body’s limitations. Yoga requires you to follow specific poses and actions. It starts simple, but eventually the poses get harder. While you might be tempted to just jump right into the hard poses, you have to remember that you may not be ready for it yet. Take your time, be kind to yourself, and you will reach your goal in time.

  • The value of persistence. As mentioned above, yoga requires you to do harder poses eventually. During this journey, you might start to think, “I can’t do it anymore, I’ve hit my limit.” Once you have this thought, you have to really think about whether you have honestly reached your edge, or whether you are just placing an imagined limitation on yourself. In the face of this “adversity”, will you give up or persist?

  • Living in the present. Yoga requires your full attention – you have to really focus on your task at hand and live in the present. For example, imagine holding a forearm plank for a few minutes – do you think you can still let your mind wander? In order to retain your position and balance, you really need to have presence of mind and focus. When applied to real life, you have to remember that there is so much value in the here and now. It may be easier said than done, but don’t dwell on the past and don’t think too much about the future. Focus on where you are right now instead.

  • Opening up. Some people find it hard to open up to others. However, when you practice yoga, you will experience positions that require you to be in physically vulnerable and open positions. At first, you may have the urge to stop and discontinue, but eventually, you will get comfortable with it. Yoga teaches you to start opening up, not just literally, but figuratively as well. When you start opening up and letting others in, you can form true connections that can give your life more meaning.
