It’s quite fascinating how good we’ve become when it comes to masking our feelings. We don’t want to burden the people around us with our emotions, so we opt to seek refuge from the people we meet online. And it’s true! Sometimes, complete strangers are the ones who’ll carry you through your darkest days. However, there will always be days where it just isn’t enough. “Go at your own pace”
It can be crippling to realize that you’re not at the same pace as the people around you or the people you went to school with. It’s hard not to compare your progress with theirs, and it’s especially hard not to feel sorry for yourself afterward. Although comparing yourself to other people can be a source of motivation, it can do more harm than good. We have different experiences and challenges when it comes to life, so it won’t make sense if you keep on using another person’s progress as a basis. Make and be your own standard.

“Mistakes are lessons too”
Whenever we mess up, we try to forget about it as soon as possible. If only we can remove the memory from our mind with just a snap of our fingers. But sadly, we can’t. After wallowing in your embarrassment or frustration, analyze your mistake. Where did you and/or the other people involve go wrong? If you’re at fault, apologize. After that, try to see that mistake as a good thing that helped you become a better person. You’ll never know, the lesson you learned from that mistake will help you in the near future.

“My struggles are valid”
Have you ever shared your problems with another person and instead of receiving comfort or words of encouragement, their response was: “Get over it, some people have it worse than you”? It’s so easy to dismiss a person’s problem, it’s so easy to say that they’re just overreacting. The next time someone shares their problems to you, empathize. It might seem like a small thing to you but it can be as big as Mount Everest to them. We’re all going through life differently, remember that.

“Just let it out”
Find an outlet. Whether it be writing, sleeping, or screaming it out, find something that brings you comfort or relieves your stress. It’s unhealthy to keep your feelings all locked up. If you don’t feel like sharing your feelings with other people, there are a lot of activities that can make you feel as though you’re talking to a confidant. Don’t be afraid to express yourself, even if doing so might appear unconventional to other people.

“I deserve to be happy”
Our minds can play tricks on us. Even if we deserve to be happy, even if we’re on the brink of breaking into a grin, our minds somehow convince us that we don’t deserve the good things that are happening or has happened to us.
