4 Essential Tips to Boost Your Self-Confidence

Everyone, at some point in their life, has doubted themselves. However, there is nothing more powerful and more invigorating than trusting your own abilities and potential. At times when you feel less than confident in who you are and what you are capable of, here are some tips from Align To Enlighten.   • Know yourself. There is no one like you in this entire world, so it is important for you to truly understand and know yourself. Sometimes, your biggest enemy may be your own negative thoughts. When this happens, make sure to go back to the tip mentioned above. To start getting to know yourself, consider using a journal. Write down your thoughts – be it negative or positive – and start to analyze them. Also, start thinking about your weaknesses, your strengths, your limitations, and your aspirations. Dig deep within yourself. The more you understand yourself, the more self-confidence you can gain.

  • Dress nicely and groom yourself. This may seem vain to some people, but it’s actually amazing what a good shower and some nice clothes can do for your self-confidence. Take a long bath/shower, shave, put on some makeup, and choose nice clothes that you feel confident in. Once you make yourself look presentable, you will feel like you are ready to tackle the world.

  • Think positive and kill negative thoughts. This may be easier said than done, but it is important for you to kill negative thoughts and start replacing them with positive thoughts instead. Be conscious of how you talk to yourself – take note of the thoughts you have about yourself and what you’re doing. For example, if you start thinking, “I can’t do this. I give up,” know that this is a form of negative self-talk. Work hard to change it for the positive instead. Instead of giving up, look for an alternative solution that will work for you.

  • Think and act positive. Thinking positive isn’t always enough – you have to start acting positive too. You are what you do, so once you start acting positive, you’ll notice a change in yourself soon enough. For example, instead of telling yourself “I can’t”, be positive and think that you can do it. Do good deeds, talk to people positively, and be positive in everything that you do.

Once you start to trust yourself, your abilities, and your potential, not only will you gain self-confidence, but you can start living a happier and fuller life as well.
